About us: Spring Street International School is a close-knit community dedicated to helping students from diverse backgrounds find their voices and passion to learn. Being a small school gives our highly committed faculty the freedom to work closely with students and their families, adapting the middle and high school experience for individual interests and aspirations.

The spark when a student discovers what ignites them to learn does not always happen in the classroom. SSIS programs bring students into the field to discover: the biology of regional habitats, the physics of local currents, the power of theater, the physical and mental demands of expeditions near and far, and the sharing of cultural experience through art and language.

Since 1995, the measures of our success are in graduating critical thinkers, collaborators and engaged learners, confident to navigate their own futures with intellectual curiosity, the courage to take risks, and a deep respect for the cultural diversity and inherent beauty of the world around them. posted 03/20

I work for a newspaper in central Colorado and am doing an article on a rather colorful gentleman, Frank E. Gimlett, who used to live in the islands many years ago. I understand two of his grandsons David Myron Gimlett and James Irwin Gimlett ended up in Washington. It looks like David died in December, but that James or a relative may still live in the  Friday  Harbor area. If so, I'd very much like to get in touch with them and see if they have any family stories I could incorporate into the story. There are a lot of rumors about Frank, who had sense of humor and told lots of tales to go with a mountain man persona he developed, but I'd like to set the record straight if I can. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you,
