Ingrid divides her life between the San Juan Islands (where her heart lives) and Austin, Texas (where her paycheck is generated). She is a paralegal with Work Around the Planet, a firm that specializes in international work placement. While Ingrid is spiritually promiscuous, she credits her guru, Jimmy Buffet, for her mantra ..."If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane." Ingrid is a triple aspect Libra. FRIDAY Each Friday, Chief Jim Cole from San Juan Island EMS will be writing an article on an important health and safety topic affecting our community. Jim has been a Nationally Registered Paramedic for over 20 years and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Community Health and a Masters Degree in Higher Education. Mike Kaill is a local resident of eighteen years. He retired as a biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, prior to which he was a professor at the University of the Pacific. Information, like the ocean surface, seems to be a barrier to understanding and action. Kaill is trying to penetrate that barrier by providing some insight to the public. He operates the Port of Friday Harbor’s Aquarium at Spring Street. He is also a diver, boater, and photographer. He sees his favorite place being compromised, sold off, and over-used.
