CPR in the Home

posted 09/12/2008
Just about everyone has heard of CPR, but few are actually trained in it. CPR is cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. It is the action of providing artificial breathing and compression of the heart. While it may sound scary, it's a simple procedure that takes less than an hour to learn.

The HOME is the most likely place that someone will need CPR! In other words, it is your loved ones that can most benefit from your efforts in learning CPR.

At EMS, we offer regular CPR training courses, but you can also learn in the privacy of your own home. The American Heart Association has a program called Friends and Family CPR. It is a small kit including a self instruction DVD and mini-manikin. These kits are available free of charge to borrow from EMS. For further information, contact Prevention Director Lainey Volk at prevention@sanjuanems.org or call us at 378-5152 x3.
