100 Book Challenge!

posted 06/03/2009
How long would it take you to read 100 books? We're challenging you to do it in just seven weeks. Why 100 books? Besides being an awesome challenge, it is one of the ways we are celebrating the Town of Friday Harbor Centennial here at the library this summer.

We're keeping it fun and simple. The idea is people will form teams and tally the books everyone reads to reach this goal. The first rule is books must be read between June 17th and August 5th. The second rule is you can only be on one team. This means if your service club forms a team and your work place forms a team and your family wants to be a team, then you have to make a choice. And that's it for the rules!

We aren't setting a team size limit, you don't have to read library books, picture books with your 2-year old count, audio books count. We need each team to designate a captain who will contact the library to let us know when you have gotten started and when you have finished. We don't need to have the list of titles read, but would love to get them if you want to share. We have a facebook page where you can check out what others are doing.

The first team to contact us as finishing will win a special prize. But other teams should not be discouraged. Every team that finishes will be entered into a drawing for a big grand prize! Teams are already forming, so don't wait!

We love this program because it not only gets people reading books, it also gets them sharing and talking about reading books. And it's just one more way to mark a significant milestone in the life of our town and community. It just doesn't get much better than that. For questions or to let us know your team captain contact Adrienne Bourne at abourne@sjlib.org or 378-2798.

As always thanks go to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring our great programming!
