DUI drill is a realistic lesson for students

San Juan Island EMS, Fire District #3, Friday Harbor Fire Department, San Juan County Sheriff's Office and Airlift Northwest conducted a DUI drill on the high school field. An accident involving eight students was simulated.

One student was dead at the scene. The driver sustained only minor injuries. Several passengers had life-threatening injuries. One was airlifted from the scene.

Arlington Fire Chief Michael Ganz spoke to the more than 300 students who attended the drill. The injuries portrayed in the drill were based on actual incidents involving teenagers in Washington.
