It was a white Christmas for the San Juan Island Historical Society Old-fashioned Holiday Celebration Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005. Two inches of snow fell in the afternoon. The grounds sparkled with hundreds of lights, chestnuts roaasted on an open fire, carolers strolled around the grounds and visitors feasted on hot cider, chili and holiday cookies.

Model trains set up by the San Juan Island Railroaders were a popular draw as children waited to tell St. Nick their wishes in the museum's Resource Center. Meanwhile in the main house, Pat Gislason and Kathleen Wilson sang carols in the parlor.

The event is a way for the Historical Society to thank the community and is made possible, in part, through the generosity of Coldwell Banker.

Amy Cantrell tells Santa her wish list.
