Thirty-six fish were caught and weighed in. The competition attracted 324 anglers aboard 91 boats. The winners were:
In addition to the individual prizes, there was a $1,500 prize for best boat total. Dave Hall, Jerry Schmidt and Matt Minnis (pictured left to right) won with four fish totalling 47 lb. 2 oz. Asked how they caught their fish, Minnis quipped, "We caught on a pole and put in a net." The Roche Harbor Village derby was the first event in the Northwest Salmon Derby Series. The Roche Harbor event is the largest of the six derbies in the series. It is also one of the largest derbies on the west coast. All of the participants were eligible to win door prizes which ranged from $500 downriggers to fishing rods to a trip for four with Dave Lee, an expert guide. Everyone is also eligible to win an 18 ½-foot aluminum Stabi-Craft boat with a 90 4-stroke Suzuki and an EZ Loader trailer. The boat will be given away in a drawing at the final derby September 18-19 in Everett. It is equipped with Scotty electric downriggers, a Simrad VHF-radio, and a Lowrance depth sounder. | |

Paul Quinn thanked his friend who baited his hook. Like the rest of the winners, he planned to share his prize money with the rest of the anglers on his boat. |
