Pete Nelsen of Shaw Island was the first repeat winner of the Einar Nielsen-Becky Barr Memorial Fishing Classic. His 38.9 oz King Salmon caught on the first day of the four-day competition was the winning entry. He selected a $2000 Vermont Casting BBQ from San Juan Propane as his prize. His wife, Alice, took second place with a 24.8 pound King salmom and selected a trip to Eagle Nook Wilderness Resort and Spa worth $1710.
Suggestions for the logo for next year's Einar Nielsen-Becky Barr Memorial Fishing Classic T-shirt included "Any would be plenty" or "One would be nice"after only 16 fish were caught this year.
Next year's classic is scheduled for September 27 through 30, 2007
"The fewest fish ever caught before was 83," said Tim Judkins. Kappy Rautenberg, Van Watkins and Judkins organized this year's event. The fishing classic has raised funds for scholarships for 22 years. Sixteen students received scholarships in 2006.
Everyone who catches a fish receives a prize. This year there were only 15 people eligible to receive prizes (one person caught two fish).

Team Fox - Eddie Fox and Vinny Alcala came in next to last with a 5 pound 8 ounce King salmon. Vinny caught the fish on a lure he received as a prize in the 2005 fishing classic. This year he selected a fishing pole as his prize.
