Valedictorian Mitchell Carlson focused on the importance of humor in his valedictorian address. He noted for his academic achievement he was awarded with yet another assignment - writing his speech. Teacher Shann Weston was chosen by the students to deliver the commencement address. She spoke about the possibilities created by what Garrison Keillor called "the magnificent indifference of the world."
