Butterflies

Team Chevalier sold butterflies as one of their fundraisers. A poem was read and the butterflies - a type native to the island - were released just prior to the survivors' lap.

Relay For Life takes place this weekend at the Friday Harbor High School track. More than 20 teams will be participating in the event which raises money for the American Cancer Society. Relay For Life® is about celebration, remembrance, and hope. By participating, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it. The public is invited to attend the event. The schedule is:

  • 1 p.m. - Team Registration Opens

  • 2 p.m. The first lap of the relay is reserved for cancer survivors, to recognize them and to celebrate their life. A survivor is someone who is now cancer free or is presently in treatment. All those who are interested in participating are invited to meet at the Friday Harbor High School track at 2 p.m. Those cancer survivors who would like to have their name read with the numbers of years that they have survived cancer, please register at the survivors’ booth at 2 p.m. Special T-shirts and other honors will be handed out at the registration table.
