Helen Riaboff Whiteley Centerposted 05/04/03
The Whiteley Center offers a serene environment that is conducive to thought and creative activity. The Center is designed to accommodate work by scholars in solitude as well as interaction within small teams of collaborators. The Center provides an institutional setting where humanists and scientists can work together on issues of common interest, where faculty can prepare manuscripts and seminars, where artists can plan cultural exhibits and performances, and where scholars with diverse interests can find collegial interaction. | |

The center was donated by the Helen Riaboff Whiteley Foundation. Helen and Arthur Whiteley played a major role in the growth of the University of Washington Departments of Microbiology and Zoology and of the Friday Harbor Laboratories. During the 2003 Open House, Arthur Whiteley showed visitors around the center named after his late wife. More information about Helen Riaboff Whiteley is available on the University's Web site
