Questions about Republican Party postcard

In today's mail came a postcard proclaiming, "Freedom has never been free. Vote!" and a picture of President Bush greeting soldiers in fatigue under the obligatory American Flag. It was addressed to "Postal Patron" and its return address read "SJCRP."

On the back was another headline, "Keep America Safe and Free! Vote!" together with some "recommendations." In very small type at the bottom was the inscription "Paid for by the San Juan County GOP." Who?

If the flag-waving "SJCRP" is so proud of its urging that we repeal the inheritance tax to benefit a very few, very rich families, that we reduce business taxes and that we vote in its candidates by ousting two capable, progressive legislators--Representative Rick Larsen and Senator Maria Cantwell--then why doesn't it proclaim its true identity in large type for all to see?

Or could it be that the San Juan County Republican Party, like Republicans everywhere, are running for cover this year, across the country and especially here in the San Juans, afraid of being associated with what they have "accomplished" since they took both houses of Congress twelve years ago?
