Remembering Andi Williams

We've been talking, sharing and remembering Andi in our home these last few days. She is God's precious child. I will always remember her desire and effort to participate in P.E. activities in the elementary school. She was so excited in the early years to join us in the "jungle" adventure, an obstacle course set up in the gym. In spite of how she was feeling, she always brought a smile to all of us in the "jungle". Thank you Andi for blessing our lives with the richness of your life. We know you are dancing with angels right now.

Some people come into our lives so quickly and then slip away before your very eyes. They can change the way you act towards other people and things. They can leave marks on your hearts and change something from ugly to gorgeous. They can move your soul and make you want to laugh and never let that person out of your sight.

I knew a little girl like that. She was my friend my hero and one sweet girl. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and never put a sad face on. She lived every day like it was her last day. She was never afraid to let someone know what her dreams were.

Her dreams were to help people and animals in every way possible and she succeeded until the day she left us. She was a stubborn little girl and she fought to the very last day of her life. It was a short life but I guarantee it was a great life.

I remember days when we would be down at the pond having barbeques and she always had a smile on her face. Another friend of mine had a little jeep and she wanted to drive us around and the next thing I know we crashed into a tree and she is laughing so hard it made everyone start laughing. She was always there when someone needed a little smile.

I will never forget her and whenever you look up in the sky you start to laugh or cry because you can just imagine her up there playing on the clouds with Matt the one she loved.

Even though many years passed without contact I always loved Andi and remembered fondly the day she came into this world. She was always feisty and full of life. I will always remember and treasure the weekend we had together.

SOME PEOPLE

posted 04/13/2006
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Andi was one of those people for me. She was wise beyond her years with a kind old soul. In her last few weeks of life I only saw her cry once, which was in the hospital and they were poking her with too many needles. She was the strongest, most willful child I have ever met.

During her last hospital stay, her Grandpa McCutcheon got sick and her dad went to be with him. It was hard for her dad to go but Andi just prayed that Gramps was going to be okay. That was a very powerful moment for me...in the end it was about others in her life, when she was in a huge battle fighting for her own life.

Andi was taken from us way too soon but she will always be a part of our lives. I feel honored to have been a part of her life and to be a part of her family's lives.

God Bless,

Trish Smith

When you coughed, my heart just sank., to this day I won't smoke, and It's you I thank. I'll miss you Andi, but I'm relieved to know, Your pain free there with Jesus, The only Way to Go!

Dearest Andi...

Thank you for giving me the gift of your grace in middle school drama last year. I will always see you sitting in my stool, always early, always with your smile, always ready to connect with the world around you. I hope you are juggling in heaven.

To my dear Andi, what a joy it was to have you in my life. I will always remember swimming at the pond, the BBQ's and the many laughs we shared. When someone says "tough as nails," you're it babe!

I hope one day I will learn how to have such a wonderful outlook on life as you did. I will continue to learn from you. I hope that you get that red corvette and maybe then you'll show Matt just what it can do. My love to the family.

I babysat Andi several times when she was younger. I always enjoyed being around her, she was always so upbeat and on the go. She never let her disease slow her down. She was always full of life, so vibrant. My heart is breaking at the news of her loss. To her family-you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

A girl named Andi Williams died today (April 9); early this morning. She was a friend of mine. She was the first person who made me feel welcome to a new school last year and she was the first person to greet me. I noticed how she coughed a lot and finally I asked "Why do you cough so much?" She replied, "I have this disease that makes me cough a lot."

I didn't understand until one day during 4th period Life Skills. It was a average everyday normal class. I suddenly heard over the P.A. system, "May all the 6th Grade teachers bring there students to the Commons." Then when we got there, the principal told us that between that day and the next two months Andi would probably die from Cystic Fibrosis. I was in shock. The good news is, Andi was a Christian and accepted Christ. I'll never forget the jokes and laughter we shared.

Tears in the rain

For andi

Your heart would laugh
As you watched your kittens play
You must have thought "I love life again this day"
In your eyes I could see the joy and wonder
At your own gift of life and the mysticism of it we are all under
For you, each moment was an adventure, for us just another day.
Because you knew you would have to feel all that this world would offer
As fast as you could, You shared that passion with those you knew
You touched so many hearts with just your sweet smile
I saw you with eyes so bright and happy
And I saw the father sun shine through your golden hair
And warm your tiny heart and you in turn would warm ours
Now so many tears fall from your loved ones hearts for you
So many tears, they could surely fill the oceans
All the tears that well forth for you, fall back to mother earth
These tears of sorrow will not fall in vain
For now the earth will return them as drops of rain
Rain that will nurture new life for all whose time it will be to experience this wonder
Drops of rain in your name and in your spirit that will
exist as an eternal testimony of your time here on earth with us
All the puppies and kittens, the birds, the bees, the flowers and the trees
And yes the grasshoppers we collected together will drink from the same pool of life we all do
When we lose someone as precious as you
We all wonder what will we do
Our tears for you reflect our pain and flow like a river, for the loss of such an angel
An angel that has delivered us a message and then returned to heaven
Love life, live life, live for love, than share this beauty inside yourself
For we all have a place in the circle of life and we will all return to the beginning that has no end

With love
Your eternal friend and fellow grasshopper catcher

Andi will be missed and forever in our hearts. What an absolute gem of a human being. I didn't know her that well but adored every bit that I knew. It was always a pleasure to wait on her at Mi Casita and get one of those amazing hugs that she gives. Love to all her family and friends.

Remembering Andi Williams

Dear Editor,

Yesterday we lost a very bright, beautiful and vibrant young soul, Andi Renae Williams. At only 13-years of age this little girl had dealt with more pain, sickness and fear than any human should have to go through. This little girl was such a strong little fighter that only up until the end even the ones close to her didn't really know just how sick she really was.

She almost always had a beautiful smile on her face and one of her witty remarks would always bring a smile to mine. She was a fiesty little girl with a passion for scary, suspenseful movies. In fact, one of my last memories of her healthy was spent at a movie with her joking with me about how afraid I was. Andi not only had the guts to watch a scary movie, she had the guts to battle this nasty disease head on. I will never forget the way she touched my life. I love you Andi.

Love always.

Friday Harbor Middle School student Andi Williams died Sunday April 9. 2006 after suffering from cystic fibrosis.

Andi Williams online, thanks to islanders' generosity

posted 3/24/2006
Andi Williams arrived home from the hospital to find she now had a laptop computer complete with wireless internet connection. The 12-year-old San Juan Island girl has cystic fibrosis and is on oxygen and has difficulty speaking. Keri Talbott set up an account at Islanders Bank this week for islanders to contribute so a laptop could be purchased for Andi so she could communicate with her friends through email. A man, who wants to remain anonymous, read about the account and contributed the remaining amount - $650 - needed. Rock Island sold the computer at cost and set it up including the wireless connection. "So many people got involved," Talbott said. "It was great."
