April 16 is designated National Healthcare Decisions Day

The National Healthcare Decisions Day Initiative is a collaborative effort of national, state and community organizations committed to ensuring that all adults with decision-making capacity in the United States have the information and opportunity to communicate and document their healthcare decisions. The objectives of NHDD are to provide much-needed information to the public, reduce the number of tragedies that occur when a person’s wishes are unknown, and improve the ability of healthcare facilities and providers to offer informed and thoughtful guidance about advance healthcare planning to their patients.

Hospice of the Northwest, along with over 1,000 other national, state and community organizations, is proud to participate in NHDD, celebrated on April 16 – April 22 2017. The theme for this year’s NHDD is “It always seems too early, until it’s too late.”

Please don’t forget that advance directive information is available at: Hospice of the Northwest 227 Freeway Drive Suite A Mount Vernon WA 98273, year-round and free to the public.

Hospice of the Northwest will also be providing information packets free to the public at: Skagit Regional Health Riverbend, Sedro-Woolley, Smokey Point and Cascade Valley Hospital and Island Hospital throughout the National Healthcare Decisions week. If you have any questions please contact Dana Brothers at dbrothers@hospicenw.org.
