Careful where you drop that crab pot Featured

SEATTLE – Ferries and crabbing are synonymous with the Pacific Northwest, but that doesn’t mean they should tangle with each other.

In summer 2017, crab pot line entanglements caused three vessels in the Washington State Ferries fleet to be temporarily taken out of service, causing hundreds of sailings to be canceled. With this year’s crabbing season heating up, WSF and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police are urging recreational crabbers to stay out of ferry lanes, docks and terminals when dropping crab pots.
