March 13: Public hearings on speed limits

San Juan County Council will hold two public hearings about county roads at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Legislative Building. The first one is to consider Adopting an Ordinance Regarding Speed Limits on County Roads Adding a New Section to San Juan County Code Chapter 10.08. The second is To Consider Adopting an Ordinance Adopting Official County Road Speed Limit Maps.

Summary of Traffic Study Findings:

Revision 1: (Argyle Ave) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit. Consider supporting a project to add designated non-motorized improvements to the Priority Array in this area.

Revision 2: (West Side Rd) Support with the following revisions:

Raise the speed limit from 20 mph to 25 mph along the southern portion of West Side Road (MP 8.35 though the > 20 mph advisory curve).

Raise the speed limit from 20 mph to 35 mph from the along the northern portion of West Side Road (>20 mph advisory curve through MP 10.42).

Revision 3: (Crescent Beach Dr) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit.

Revision 4: (Pt Lawrence Rd) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit.

Revision 5: (Enchanted Forest Rd) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit.

Revision 6: (Lopez Village) Support revision in consideration of the surrounding land use.

Revision 7: (Lopez Rd) Support revision in consideration of the surrounding land use.

Revision 8: (Cross Rd) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit

Revision 9: (Center Rd) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit.

Revision 10: (Fisherman Bay Rd) Traffic study suggests that the road is currently signed with the appropriate speed limit.
