The roundabout opened at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, two days ahead of schedule. Town Administrator Duncan Wilson observed the traffic after it opened and again on his lunch hour. "It's been really, really smooth," he said.
By noon, two loads of ferry traffic had traversed the roundabout. "The traffic just instaneously dissolved," Wilson said. "There was no backup".
There are some minor tweaks regarding painting that need to be done, according to Wilson but there aren't any major problems.
Wilson said the circle's bright yellow color wasn't the Town's choice. It is mandated for mini roundabouts.
