Oct. 25: Community Dinner at FHHS

The first Community Dinner of the school year will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 25 in Friday Harbor High School Commons. The program has changed this year.

Liz Varvaro is now teaching Culinary Arts, Baking and International Cooking as well as continuing the Chef.0 Internship program. She says, "We have officially taken over the culinary department and we are thrilled to showcase our talented Chef Andy’s skills to more students through a classroom setting. This school year marks a full decade of bringing delicious, from-scratch meals to our students, staff and community. We look forward to the new educational opportunities ahead and inspiring a larger group of students in the Culinary Arts."

Dinner Prices - $15 Adults, $7 for children under 12 – support the Food for Thought Lunch Program and Chef.0 Internships

MENU:

Roasted Pork Loin with Herbed Crust - Brined, seared, brushed with herbs, roasted and served with a spiced cider reduction

Apple, Leek and Parmesan Stuffing - Homestyle stuffing with Mitchell Bay Farm apples, leeks, onions and parmesan cheese

Sweet Potato and Yam Mash - Oven roasted yams and sweet potatoes mashed with yukon gold potatoes, garlic poached in olive oil and heavy whipping cream

Caramelized Brussel Sprouts - Brussel sprouts caramelized with bacon and local onions

Local Fall Salad - Local salad greens, goat cheese, Mitchell Bay Farm Asian Pears, Sweet Earth Farm beets and toasted seeds tossed in a light vinaigrette
