Darline D. Evans-NicholsJanuary 22, 1927 - October 26, 2008
Darline D. Evans-Nichols passed on to a more peaceful place on October 26, 2008 with all her children by her side. Darline was born on January 22, 1927 in White Bluffs, Washington to Grace Pearl and Arthur Eugene Fairbanks. Darline married Johnny L. Evans in 1945 and had four children - Judy Grace Schiffner(Wayne) Ferndale, Sue Dione Evans(Jim Ulmer) Friday Harbor, Shaun Michael Evans(Beth Rosenzweig) Bothell, and Jeff Nels Evans(Susan Evans) Friday Harbor. Darline has six grandchildren - Jeremy Meadows, Jeannette Mayes, Carli Schiffner, Tyson Schiffner, Heidi Evans, and Leah Evans and five great-grandchildren - Logan Meadows, Bailey Mayes, Gracie Hahn,Taylor Peterson, and Finnigan Mayes. Darline has two surviving sisters - Arliss Pickrell and Kathi Schneekloth and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Roger, husbands Johnny Evans and Jack Nichols. Darline and Johnny built their first home in Kenmore, WA. where they raised their four children. Darline was a homemaker and was happiest when she was with her family. When the children were raised they moved to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands and built their second home. Darline worked at the Friday Harbor Journal, the Auditor's office in Friday Harbor for many years, and then at the Fabianek Chiropratic office. Darline and Johnny traveled a lot during their retirement. Darline and Johnny were happily married for 51 years. Darline married again to Jack Nichols and they lived on the East Coast. Darline will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and for her chocolate chip cookies, wild blackberry pies, and her award winning apple pies. She loved her family. A Memorial Celebration for Darline will be held between 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the home of Shaun Evans and Beth Rosenzweig, 10425 East Riverside in Bothell |
