Ruth Stanbra Wilson

Ruth S. Wilson, age 86, of Warm Beach Senior Community; Bournemouth, England; and Thailand, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Bothell, WA. She was born in Bellingham, WA and was the second daughter of Rebecca Laura and L.G. Stanbra. Ruth graduated from Friday Harbor High School after moving with her family to the island.

She married Gene Wilson in 1942 and was employed in the office of the Friday Harbor Shipyard. After barely surviving a terrible boat fire, which resulted in the untimely death of her young husband, Ruth went on to graduate from Seattle Pacific College and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Seattle.

She then went on to do mission support work in Asia; then founded and managed a holiday home, The Juniper Tree, for missionaries in Thailand, where she resided for many years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy, Beth, and Zepher. She is survived by her nieces and nephews of the Boyce family, the Meadows family, and her husband's family.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008 at Valley Church on San Juan Island. A funeral service will follow visitation at 1:30 p.m at Valley Church, with Dr. Joe Bettridge officiating. Interment will be at Valley Cemetery.
