Tyler Hart scored four touchdowns and thwarted a late rally by picking off a pass in Friday Harbor High School’s 36-26 victory over Cascade Christian Saturday, Nov. 19 at Mount Vernon. The No. 2-ranked Wolverines advance to a Class 1A semi-final rematch with top-ranked Royal at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 in the Tacoma Dome.

"I was real pleased with the attitude of the team starting off the game and the way they hung in there facing adversity," said Friday Harbor coach Richard Ledford. "It was one of those games that stretched both teams."

Hart, a junior running back, scored touchdowns on runs of 60 and 90 yards and added another on an 88-yard punt return as the Wolverines built a 22-0 lead in the second quarter.

"There were some great individual efforts (on offense)," Ledford said. "The defense played hard most of the game against the run and we had a good overall pass rush."

Cascade Christian’s Devin Snyder rushed for a touchdown with 1:23 to go in the first half to trim Friday Harbor’s lead to 22-6.

Hart raced 58 yards for his fourth touchdown after recovering a Cougar fumble jarred loose byDavid Ahrenius.

The Wolverines led 30-6 with seven minutes to go in the thrid quarter and appeared to be cruising for a another lopsided victory but the Cougars were not easily caged. Cascade’s Cody Berry caught a 23-yard touchdown pass, cutting Friday Harbor’s lead to 30-12.

Friday Harbor’s Tyler Dixon recovered an onside kick and Jesse Woodruff snatched a pass away from a defender and raced into the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown reception.

The Wolverines went up 36-12 and again had a 24-point lead. Cascade’s Charlie Velling scored on a 19-yard touchdown run after botched punt snap by Friday Harbor. A Friday Harbor fumble resulted in Velling scoring on a 3-yard run and the Cougars added a 2-point conversion to cut the lead to 36-26 with 8:22 left in the fourth quarter.

Cascade recovered an onside kick and the Wolverine fans were getting nervous. Defensive lineman Michael GrosJacques made a big stop for the Wolverines and Hart picked off a pass with 5:51 to go in the game.

Friday Harbor drove the ball deep into Cascades territory. With 3:41 to and a 4th-and-1, Friday Harbor quarterback Cole Franklin picked up the fourth down on a quarterback keeper and the Wolverines ran out the clock.
