John Hamilton scored 15 of his game-leading 24 points in the first quarter of Friday Harbor boys basketball team's 70-54 Northwest A/B League win over Shoreline Christian Friday, Jan. 6. Chad Stoddard pumped in 16 for the host Wolverines and Dylan Gerhardstein contributed 11.

"I thought we worked really hard tonight," said Friday Harbor coach Rod Turnbull of the physical contest.

The Wolverines played without a couple of players who are out for extracurricular code violations. "We had some adverse conditions that we handled and I'm really proud of them for doing that," Turnbull said.

"I'm really proud of them," Turnbull added. "It's a big win for them."

Friday Harbor used hustling defense and aggressive rebounding to build a 22-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wolverines, helped by some impressive blocks by Stoddard and Hamilton, increased their lead to 50-35 at the end of three periods.

Tyler Hart pitched in 10 points for the Wolverines. Brock McNairy scored 3. Tommy Fowler and Eric Rothlisberger had 2 apiece.

Grant Brandal led the Crusaders with 15.

Friday Harbor improves to 4-0 in league and 7-2 overall. Shoreline Christian is 2-4 and 4-6.

The Wolverines travel to La Conner Tuesday, Jan. 10.
