Friday Harbor spikers finish season

Friday Harbor's volleyball team closed the season with a hard-fought loss to Nooksack Valley at the Class 1A Sub-District Volleyball Tournament Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006.

Nooksack Valley won the first game 25-7 and appeared poised to make quick work of Friday Harbor. The Wolverines were determined to prove they could be competitive with the Pioneers, rallying for five consecutive points to tie the second game 22-22. Nooksack recovered and eked out a 25-22. The Pioneers took the third game 25-11.

"W played them tough last time, but not that tough," said Friday Harbor coach Travis Mager. "In that second game we gave them a dose of reality."

Mager was impressed with the Wolverines improvement during the season. "We came 360 degrees from where we started," he said.
