Sequim blocked a 13-yard field goal with about 40 seconds to go for a 15-14 non-league victory at Friday Harbor Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.
The Wolverines "played their guts out," said Friday Harbor coach Richard Ledford. "I'm proud of our kids."
"I'm disappointed for our kids, not disappointed in them," Ledford said after the Wolverines' second narrow loss in as many weeks.
Sequim, a Class 2A school, fielded five players weighing more than 250 pounds. "To limit that huge group to two touchdowns is a good job," Ledford commended his defense.

The Wolves (5-2) gave the Wolverines (4-3) a chance with about two minutes remaining. Trailing by a point, Friday Harbor recovered a fumble from Sequim on the Wolves' 45-yard line. Wolverine quarterback Roy Taylor threaded the ball to Louis Paul in the middle of the field. Paul drug a couple of defenders for several yards during the 22-yard completion. Mike Short bulled for nine yards and the Wolverines set up for a field goal. The Wolves blocked their second field goal of the game to secure the win.
The Wolverines went up 14-3 in the first half. Friday Harbor drove steadily to the end zone on their first possession. After converting a 4th-and-inch on the 9-yard line and a penalty on the Wolves, Taylor scored on a 2-yard carry. Cody Price booted the first of two PATs and the Wolverines led with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter.

Sequim responded with a about 20-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3.
A long pass to Miguel Medina helped set up the Wolverines' second score -- 2-yard keeper by Taylor with 53 second remaining in the half.
Sequim scored on a 67-yard run in the first seven seconds of the second half. Their attempt at a two-point conversion failed but they cut the Wolverines' lead to 14-9.
The Wolves converted two 4th-and-short situations during a 61-yard scoring drive at the start of the fourth quarter. They scored the winning touchdown on a one-yard dive with 10 minutes to go in the fourth period. Jordan Nash picked off a pass for the two-point conversion.
Friday Harbor pounded the ball down the field but Sequim blocked the first of two field-goal attempts that would have given the Wolverines the winning margin.
