GrosJacques, Porter, Short and Barnes advance to Tri-District ChampionshipsWhitney Porter won the high jump and the 100-meter high hurdles and teammate Christine GrosJacques placed second in the high jump at the Class 1A Sub-District Meet at Lynden Christian May 7 and 9. They clinched automatic berths to the Tri-District Championships at King's High School Thursday, May 15 and Saturday, May 17. Kayla Short and Kelsey Barnes will also continue competing after posting quailifying marks with third-place finishes. Porter leaped four feet, eight inches in the high jump and ran the hurdles in 17.44 seconds. She finished sixth in the 100 dash in :14.17 and was sixth in the 200 sprint in :29.54. GrosJacques cleared 4-6 in the high jump. Short set personal records with third-place finishes in three events. She ran the 100 dash in :13.89, threw the javelin 101-2 and leaped 14-7.25 in the long jump. Barnes finished third in the shot with a 30-6 effort and was third in the discus with a 89-2 fling. She came in seventh in the javelin with a 86-05 throw. Megan Brown placed fifth in the long jump with a PR of 14-1 and Tessa Dortch finished ninth with a 12-11.75 mark. |
