Seven Wolverine boys advancing to Bi-District Meet

Seven Friday Harbor boys will be competing in the Class 2B Bi-District Track and Field Championships after strong performances at the District 1 Meet Friday, May 11 at Mount Vernon High School. The top three district finishers earn berths to state-qualifying Bi-District at King’s High School Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Friday Harbor softball team clinches at least a share of league title

Friday Harbor’s fastpitch softball team clinched at least a share of the Northwest 2B/1B League with a 17-7 victory over La Conner Friday, May 4, 2018. With the win in their final home game of the season the Wolverines improve to 9-0 in conference action and 11-7 overall. Friday Harbor plays one game at Darrington (0-9) May 9 and closes league and regular season action with a doubleheader at La Conner (6-4) on May 11, 2018.

Wolverine baseball squad closes regular season with wins, hosts playoff game Tuesday

The Friday Harbor baseball squad closed the regular season with an 11-1 victory over visiting La Conner Friday, May 4 and picked up another victory the next day after the short-staffed Braves forfeited.

Orcas sailing team headed to nationals; Per Black completes 'perfect' season

Five members of the Friday Harbor High School Sailing Team spent last weekend (April 28-29) waiting for wind at Seattle’s Sail Sand Point facility at the District Championships. Huddled beneath a team tent, with school books opened, the rain drummed yet the wind refused to fill-in until late Saturday afternoon. When racing actually happened, Friday Harbor’s skipper Per Black, and Zoe Calverley, Emmett Carrier and Leah Black (who all took turns crewing in Per’s boat) were the winning boat in “A” Division, recording 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 1st place finishes for a total of 11 points.


Mount Vernon dominates 5th Annual Friday Harbor Invitational

Mount Vernon Christian dominated the 4th Annual Friday Harbor Invitational May 3 at San Juan Golf Club. Medalist for the Tournament went to Max Hansen from Mount Vernon with a playoff victory over Brandon Hodgson from Anacortes. Tied for 3rd and 4th place were two more Mount Vernon players, Kyle Ekkelkemp and John Phifer both with 89. The Mount Vernon squad won the team competition by 11 shots over second place Anacortes. Ten golf medals were awarded in the Men’s division and Mount Vernon took home nine. They definitely are the team favorite at the upcoming District Tournament.

Friday Harbor trims Orcas Island, clinches baseball league title

 Friday Harbor trimmed Orcas Island 5-4 Tuesday, May 1 and clinched the 2018 Northwest 2B/1B League baseball title. The host Wolverines are 9-1?in conference action and 11-4 overall. The Vikings finish second place with an 8-4 league record. They are 8-6 for the season.

Wolverines sweep Vikings in fastpitch doubleheader

Host Friday Harbor rallied for a 6-5 fastpitch victory over Orcas Island and shut out the Vikings 15-0 in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The Wolverines improve to 8-0 in Northwest 2B/1B League play and are 10-6 for the season. The second-place Vikings are 9-3 in conference and 11-3 overall.

Wolverines eke out win over Vikings in sudden death golf playoff April 24

Friday Harbor High School Golf Coach Jack Rice sent in this report on the incredible golf match between FH and Orcas Island High School on April 24.

The weather gods have finally turned in our favor; we had a beautiful day for golf on Orcas Island.  The Orcas Golf Course was in the best condition we have seen it in years.
