August 21: National Historical Park Eclipse Viewing Party at South Beach

San Juan Islanders and visitors attending the San Juan Island National Historical Park  Eclipse Viewing Party at South Beach will have the opportunity to view the August 21 solar eclipse safely, learn about solar energy, make a solar print, and much more at this unique festival. This free event takes place from 8:30 am to 12 noon Monday, August 21 at South Beach. Shuttle service to the park from San Juan Island Grange will be running every 30 minutes starting at 8 a.m.

The park is not on the path of totality, but 88 percent of the sun will be blocked during the three-minute eclipse. To see 100 percent totality you would need to drive south a bit past Salem Oregon.  Call 360-378-2240, ext. 2222 for more information.
