Monologue Workshops offered at SJCT for HS and MS students Featured

San Juan Community Theatre Theatre Arts for Teens program presents Monologue Workshops for High School students from 3:15 to 4:30 pm March 26-April 30 and for Middle School students March 29-May 3, 2018 at the Friday Harbor High School Drama Room.

SJCT Youth and Family Program Director Penelope Haskew leads these six-week workshops for island high school and middle school-aged students, as they work with monologues to show off the best of their acting range. Students will study a variety of monologues, write their own, and learn how to stage themselves to make the most interesting and appropriate choices for themselves and the character; as well as techniques like how to balance stillness with movement, how to listen to themselves, and how to direct their monologue to feel a connection without a partner.

Students will memorize two monologues and have an opportunity to present them to friends and family at the final class.

Cost is $65 per person (Scholarships available; contact Penelope Haskew at youth@sjctheatre.org) The art of acting alone.
