Tour De Lopez on April 23

The Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting Tour De Lopez, a non-competitive road tour with 10- and 26-mile routes through the scenic landscape of Lopez. Come for a day trip, or enjoy the weekend, stay overnight and enjoy several other island activities now being planned – a Friday night art show and wine tasting; Saturday after the ride and lunch, enjoy a boat cruise circum-navigating Lopez Island, a sunset dinner cruise and a DJ’d rock and roll dance; Sunday morning enjoy the annual Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast before heading home on the ferry. The tour is open to bicycle clubs and individual participants throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Check-in will be from 9:30-11am at Odlin County Park – a short ride (.5 mile) from the Lopez Ferry landing. Pick up your info packet, including route map, lunch voucher and details of the days ride. The tour routes will include marked designated halfway points with snacks, water and restrooms available. Your 1st designated stop at Port Stanley Schoolhouse is hosted by the Lopez Artist Guild with 19 local artists’ work on display. Your ride will conclude in the Village Park, next to Lopez Village Market, with a BBQ lunch by the Bay Cafe from 1-3pm. For those on a day trip, the ride back to the ferry landing is about 4.5 miles from the Village or limited transportation will be available.

Volunteers will be at designated rest areas and circulating along the cycling routes to provide assistance to Tour De Lopez participants.

Christa Malay, renowned artist and Lopez resident, has designed original artwork for this event. Her work has been incorporated into commemorative posters and T-shirts that will be available for sale.

Pre-registration fees are:

• $20 adults (includes lunch)
• $15 children 12 and under (includes lunch)
• $50 per family (two adults two kid’s lunch included)

Fees the day of the event will be

• $25 adults
• $20 children,
• $70 family
