There are many reasons I support Jennifer Swanson in her bid for Council Position #3. I’d like to focus on two of her strengths: Jennifer is hard working and displays equanimity when leading.

Jennifer has stepped into a variety of community organizations on Shaw Island and throughout the San Juan Islands.  You can read a list of Jennifer’s accomplishments in a variety of roles when you visit her website.  However, unless you get to work with Jen,  you won’t appreciate the qualities that make her an excellent leader.

She has accepted challenging jobs that would make some of us head for the hills! Two very demanding positions included the superintendency of Shaw School and organization for our 4th of July celebrations. Both jobs entailed volumes of tasks and managing a lot of details. Jennifer did an excellent job with both.

Then there is her way with people.  As happens in a small community, people have different points of view.  Sometimes strong opinions can lead to heated discussions.  Jennifer’s leadership style includes a lot of listening and encouragement for compromise, while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Because of Jen’s diligence & personality,  her leadership would benefit the residents of  San Juan County.  I urge you to vote for Jennifer Swanson, Council Position #3.
