Fundraisers to help families of car crash victims

David Klein and Ella Weaver

Orcas Island is still reeling after the tragic deaths of two  beloved young community members. David Klein, 22,  and Ella Weaver, 20, were killed in a car crash on US-97 north of Chelan Falls on April 30. A driver headed the wrong way caused the 3-vehicle crash.

Two Go Fund Me fundraisers are posted. One to honor Klein’s memory. Funds raised will help his family mourn, cover funeral expenses, and celebrate David’s memory. If a large sum is donated, any extra funds will be given to skateparks in David’s name, honoring his passion and the community that supported him.

The other Go Fund Me account raises funds to support the Weaver family after the tragic loss.  In addition to giving the family the space to grieve, funds raised will help ease the many practical burdens that accompany such a devastating loss – including memorial expenses, lost income from time away from work, travel and family needs, grief support, and the countless unexpected costs that arise in moments like these.
