Tuesday, September 8 | 6 to 7:30 pm | San Juan Island Library | Friday Harbor
The Poet Laureate Program is being developed as a two-year community arts position designed to celebrate and amplify island voices through poetry, storytelling, public engagement, educational opportunities, and community events. Organizers are especially interested in creating a program that reaches across generations and islands and reflects the many voices and experiences that make up our community.
These writing workshops are a series of sessions focused on craft, style, and recitation/performance, with an emphasis on community engagement. As part of the program, we’re seeking the first Poet Laureates of the San Juan Archipelago and we hope these initial writing circles and open mics will help generate interest and participation.
Presented by the Island Verse Literary Collective. Programming supported by Cultural Access San Juans.
