$22K raised at Hospice of San Juan Fundraising Event

Friday Harbor, August 14, 2017: The recent Bootlegger Bash hosted at Village at the Harbour for Hospice of San Juan was an incredible evening and has been deemed a smashing success. All told we raised slightly over $22,000 through our event. All funds have been earmarked to help us meet the $37,500 matching challenge posed by an anonymous donor for our Endowment Fund.

We would like to thank everyone who participated either through donations, auction donations, tickets purchased, straight donations, participation, and support. The generosity of this Island is breathtaking and amazing and we could not have done this without the support and encouragement of this fantastic community. Truly, the outpouring of positive thoughts and actions made this event so successful and all of us at The Village at the Harbour and Hospice of San Juan thank you. There are so many people to thank- people that took time and effort to support us as we strive to reach our goals that we simply don’t have enough space but know that your generous acts are changing lives and making the end of life for Hospice participants all it can be.

With a mission statement to improve the quality of life of those with life-limiting illness by providing guidance and warm, loving, supportive help to a dying person and family, and to keep intact the dignity, integrity and personal choices of the individual you can't go wrong. One of only a handful of all-volunteer hospice organizations in the country, Hospice of San Juan focuses on the needs of individuals and families trying to cope with the reality of death as an approaching part of life's journey.

They offer five main program areas: direct patient care and caregiver respite; grief support; community and volunteer education; Music & Memory matching; and durable medical equipment lending.

Founded in 1984 by a small group of dedicated island nurses and caregivers, we received non-profit status in 1985 and Federal 501(c) status in 1993 and currently work both independently and alongside Medicare-funded hospice services that come from Skagit County.
