I haven't been able to review this yet, but I can say that each insured receives a copy of their contract and their is very specific language in the contract regarding airlift for medical emergencies. Just because of ER doc suggests it, doesn't mean it will be paid for. The ER providers shouldn't be encouraging anyone to be airlifted off any island, unless that patient is in need of medical treatment immediately to survive. I was on one of the island a few years back and my daughter telephoned the UC doc on the island and he said to take an airlift to the Anacortes..my daughter thought that was a bit uncalled for, so called the ferry terminal and found there was a ferry on it's way in for transporting to Anacortes. Also, there a number of people who have friends with boats on all island, world wide that could help in an urgent, not emergency situation.Report
