Numbers: As of 11:59 p.m. on April 18, there are 11,790 cases of COVID-19 in Washington state. As noted on our website, total cases reported today are lower than yesterday. Data cleaning that occurred late on 4/18 removed 190 confirmed cases that were discovered to be out of state residents. State recalls 12,000 COVID-19 test kits due to possible contamination: On April 17, 2020, the Washington State Department of Health was alerted by UW Medicine to discontinue use of a recently-procured batch of COVID-19 specimen collection kits that UW Medicine believed may have a quality control issue. As a result, last night DOH recalled approximately 12,000 kits sent to local health jurisdictions, tribal nations, and state agency partners across the state. Read the full release.
