May 11: San Juan County Council and Board of Health meeting

San Juan County Council will hold a regular meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2020 in the Legislative Building at 55 Second Street in Friday Harbor. From 10 to 11:30 am the council will reconvene as the county Board of Health.

Last week the council had a discussion about petitioning Governor Inslee to skip ahead to Phase 2 of the state's four-phase reopening plan. The council directed staff to report back to the Board of Health. Unfortunately for the county, a new case of COVID-19 was recorded on May 6, 2020. In order to ualify for the waiver, counties must have three weeks without a new case.

Council member Bill Watson was adamantly opposed to going to Phase 2. He suggested staff come up with a San Juan County specific multi-phase plan to reopen instead.

The meeting will be streamed via the county's website. It will also be accessible via SKYPE 360.370-0599...441250# (San Juan County)
