December 30: 49 more COVID-19 cases in San Juan Islands since Dec 24

According to San Juan County Health Department the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 49 since Dec. 24. The total since March 2020 is 528. 

The individual island counts were last updated December 21. So using those numbers,  Orcas Island was hardest hit with 45 new cases; San Juan Island had nine new cases, Lopez Island had four new cases, and an outer island had one. 

Actively Monitored Cases" are those cases involving confirmed positive individuals who are still in the infectious period of their illness, are required to remain in isolation, and are being carefully monitored by San Juan County public health staff. There are 47 such cases on Orcas Island, 7 on San Juan Island and 5 on Lopez Island. 

An individual can have ongoing long-term symptoms of COVID and no longer be infectious. For detailed information on COVID infectious period, please review this information from the US Centers for Disease Control.

The last time the totals for each island were available was December 21. San Juan Island 233; Orcas Island 205; Lopez Island 80, Shaw Island 6, outer islands 4.
