Jan. 12: 191 COVID-19 cases reported this month in the San Juan Islands

San Juan County Health and Community Services Department's latest tally of COVID-19 cases since the first case in the San Juan Islands in March 2020 is 721. An additional 18  were reported Wednesday, January 12.  This makes the number of cases reported this month 191. This is almost double the number of cases reported in December 2021.

The numbers per island are San Juan Island 301, Orcas Island 305, Lopez Island 97, Shaw Island 8, outer islands 8.   [Editor's note: These numbers add up to 719 but the total reported by the county is 721.]

The numbers of currently active cases are 15 on Lopez Island, 50 on Orcas Island, 42 on San Juan Island.   Actively Monitored Cases are those cases involving confirmed positive individuals who are still in the infectious period of their illness, are required to remain in isolation, and are being carefully monitored by San Juan County public health staff. An individual can have ongoing long-term symptoms of COVID and no longer be infectious.

The county has an online form for people to report positive results of at-home COVID-19 tests.
