July 17: Lecture: Enforcing Be Whale Wise: Washington’s New Whale Watching Regulations

Sergeant Russ Mullins of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Service, will discuss “Enforcing Be Whale Wise: Washington’s New Whale Watching Regulations” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at The Whale Museum on First Street in Friday Harbor. This lecture is part of The Whale Museum’s Summer Lecture Series.

In 2019, US and Canadian boating laws and regulations regarding the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales (J, K and L pods) were updated. 

Mullins has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Western Washington University and has been with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Service (WDFW) for over 20 years, mostly in San Juan County. He has supervised WDFW’s Northern Puget Sound marine detachment and local operations as well as written WDFW’s Section 6 Grants.
