Ed Sutton, the controversial and long-serving member of the San Juan Ferry Advisory Committee, resigned Tuesday, August 16. San Juan County Council member Howie Rosenfeld announced Sutton's sudden resignation Tuesday, August 16 during the council meeting. Rosenfeld asked council member Richard Fralick to step in temporarily and represent Orcas Island on the FAC until a replacement can be found.
Sutton volunteered hundreds of hours on the committee. He was a subject of controversy for among other things, line-jumping at the Orcas Island ferry terminal and telling Washington State Ferries they should charge passenger fees on the inter-island ferries.
