Woman falls overboard; rescued by FH Port employees

dsc06285Lucky for a Kamloops, B.C woman, Port of Friday Harbor employees Kevin Elmer and Gary Alspaugh were working on the breakwater when she fell off the Michaelangela into the cold waters of Friday Harbor marina. She was in the water approximately three minutes before the men reached her and pulled her out.

San Juan EMS and a sheriff's deputy responded to the port. EMTs placed her on a guerney wrapped her in blankets and transported her by ambulance to Inter Island medical center. She was complaining of back pain and may be suffering from hypothermia.

Her rescuers say she was facing the private pleasure craft when she fell and her legs went over her head. She did not hit the boat. According to another port employee, she was wearing a personal flotation device.
