How to apply for Fire/EMS merger citizen advisory committee

San Juan Island Fire Department and San Juan County Public Hospital District #1 are seeking input on the advisability of the consolidation of San Juan Island EMS with the fire dept. Working with the Town of Friday Harbor, SJIF&R commissioners and PHD commissioners are putting together a five-member citizen advisory committee.



At their regularly scheduled meetings in May, each entity will select one individual from the pool of interested citizens. The three people selected will work together to select two more people to fill out the five-member committee.

The committee will continue with the evaluation of some type of consolidation of the two agencies. This work should include, but not be limited to, the legal and financial considerations. The fire district and the hospital district are each committing $5,000 to the committee for legal and financial expertise.

Interested community members should forward a letter of interest to be delivered by 5 p.m. on April 23, 2018.

A schedule for the development and delivery of a final report will be developed with the Advisory Group once they have been seated.
