Sheriff, prosecutor and treasurer face challengers in General Election; 2 running for District Court Judge

Four of the nine elected offices (not counting precinct officers)  up for election in the 2018 General Election are contested races. San Juan County Sheriff Ron Krebs will face Deputy Jeff Asher; Prosecutor Randy Gaylord is being challenged by Friday Harbor attorney Nick Power; Treasurer Rhonda Pederson will run against Maureen Marinkovich; and Friday Harbor attorney Steve Brandli and Deputy Prosecutor Carolyn Jewett are running against each other for District Court Judge.

No one filed to run against Auditor Milene Henley, Assessor John Kulseth, Clerk Lisa Henderson, Superior Court Judge Kathryn Loring and Councilmember Jamie Stephens.

In the 40th District, six people signed up for the position currently held by Kristine Lytton, who is not running for re-election. Daniel Miller of San Juan Island, Rud Browne of Bellingham, Michael Petrish of Anacortes, Alex Ramel of Bellingham, Debra Lekanoff of Bow, Tom Pasma of Burlington have filed as candidates for State Representative Position 1 40th District. Representative Jeff Morris is running unopposed for Position 2 40th District.

    Thrilled to see someone running against Randy Gaylord. He has been coasting and not doing his job properly for much too long!!! If anyone knows how to contact the Powers campaign, please let me know. I want to work with them.

    Happy to see that Jeff Asher is running for sheriff! Recent events in law enforcement speak to a need for better management oversight.
