Hundreds of last-minute voters in the islands; Lopez School levy passes

Five voters just made it to the ballot box in the last few minutes before 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 7. When Elections staff opened the San Juan Island drop box they found it stuffed with approximately 800 ballots. 

As of noon, Tuesday, August 7 there were 4,303 ballots being processed with about another 250 that needed to begin being processed. The boxes on Orcas and  Lopez islands had been emptied on Monday. The 800+ ballots collected in Friday Harbor and the ballots in the Orcas and Lopez Island boxes will be processed Wednesday, August 8. An updated result will be posted on the county's website by the end of the day Wednesday.

The top two candidates in each race go on to the General Election.
