Election results: Krebs, Gaylord and Jewett win, affordable housing REET approved

After a rancorous campaign, a record number of voters cast ballots in the November 6, 2018 General Election in the San Juan Islands. The three races that were hotly contested - San Juan County Sheriff, county Prosecutor, county District Court Judge - were won by Krebs, Gaylord, Jewett. Yes for Homes proposition passed. 


San Juan County Sheriff: 

Ron Krebs 5,071 (58.30 percent)

Jeff Asher 3,597 (41.35 percent)

San Juan County District Court: 

Randy Gaylord  5,571 (62.98 percent)

Nick Power 3,233 (36.55 percent)

San Juan County District Court: 

Carolyn Jewett 5,508 (65 percent)

Steve Brandli 2,955 (34.87 percent)

Proposition I: Affordable Housing REET (Yes for Homes):

Yes: 5,053 (54.86 percent)

No: 4,157  (45.14 percent)

As of 8 p.m. 9,388 ballots were counted or 70.10 percent of the 13,392 ballots mailed to voters. Elections staff had counted all the ballots that were in the Elections office. Still to be counted are those cast on Election Day in the ballot boxes on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan Islands and the ballots that were postmarked by November 6.
