Voters approve sales tax and school levy

Voters in San Juan County approved a sales tax increase that will fund emergency communication systems and facilities. The margin in the February 11, 2020 special election was 67 percent in favor and 32 percent against. 4,833 ballots were counted with another 1,500 left to count as of 8 p.m. The votes were 3,135 for and 1,501 against. 

Voters in San Juan Island School District approved a capital levy for school facilities and technology with 1,598 (67 percent) for and 744 (32 percent) against.

There were 13,336 ballots mailed to voters. As of Election night, 4,833 were counted and about 1,500 left to count. The next ballot count results will be released on February 13.
