The updated results, released Wednesday, November 9, 2022 for the General Election, show the same winners as the Tuesday, November 8 count. The road levy, library levy both failed as did the four charter amendments. The levy for Lopez Solid Waste district passed easily. That levy is renewed annually by voters. Sgt. Eric Peters lead over Sheriff Ron Krebs increased from 216 to 496. The percentages are now Peter 52.8% to Krebs 46.94%.
According to the Secretary of State's office, of the 14,641 ballots sent to San Juan County voters, 63.61% have been returned. Less than 1% are rejected. Those will be reviewed by the Canvas Board. Another updated count will be released by 5 p.m. Thursday, November 10. Friday, November 11 is Veterans Day and government offices are closed so no count will be released that day.
With a 6 percent lead over Krebs, Eric Peter is most likely the new sheriff. In order for Krebs to win, he would need to get 62 percent of the remaining ballots.
