Colton Harris-Moore sentenced to 87 months

"This case is a tragedy," said Island County Superior Court Judge Vickie Churchill. "And a triumph of the human spirit in other ways." She noted Colton Harris-Moore grew up with a "mind-numbing absence of hope". Churchill spoke about the damage done to the victims before pronouncing sentence.

She sentenced Colton Harris-Moore to 87 months in prison for the 31 crimes he committed during a three-year crime spree. The 20-year-old will not receive any credit for the 18 months he has served. And while he will remain in custody, the clock won't start ticking on the 87-month sentence until he turns 21.
