First Charter Commission meeting January 7
San Juan County Charter Review Commission convenes its first meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Legislative Building at 55 Second Avenue in Friday Harbor.
The county's Charter calls for a review by an elected commission after five full years of operation under the new form of government, and at least every ten years thereafter. The home rule charter was adopted by voters in 2005 and put in place in 2006.
At its first meeting, the commission will select officers, establish ground rules, be briefed on its mission and told of available resources.

Ten from the three districts on San Juan Island, seven from the two districts on Orcas Island and four from the one district covering Lopez and Shaw Islands.
