A May 14 trial date was set for Brian Borgquist, 41, who was charged with two counts of Violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act (heroin) and one count of Violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act (methamphetamine). The Friday Harbor man pleaded not guilty to all three charges at his March 2, 2018 arraignment in San Juan County Superior Court in Friday Harbor.
According to court documents, the first charge was filed in November 2017. Borgquist failed to appear at a February 23 hearing and a $2,000 bench warrant was issued. On February 25, 2018 in front of King's Market in Friday Harbor, Borgquist was arrested because of the outstanding warrant. He had a baggie containing heroin in his pocket. After a search conducted at the Sheriff's Office, a box containing more baggies of heroin and two baggies of methamphetamine were discovered. Also found were needles and drug paraphernalia.
